WELCOME TO MY YARD

Welcome to My Yard is giving a new meaning to ‘Climbing Trips’ by running a short 1-2 week fun programme to give climbers a chance to be part of our newly UK registered social enterprise supporting street children and young people in Kathmandu. You’ll get the opportunity to experience outdoor sports climbing in Nepal, climb at the local climbing wall with the young people, do hands on volunteer work, experience Nepali life and culture, see the sights and be part of building our projects.

Teej Festival for women

This is a Climbing Trip that lets you taste the world of volunteering and also a chance for you to share your love of climbing with the street children and young people we support.

This is a great opportunity to make life-long friends, see a new country, be part of an innovative project, experience a new culture and join those trying to make a difference.

We are looking for fun, enthusiastic, motivated sports climbers who have an interest in

supporting Welcome To My Yard to come and be part of this exciting programme.

Some sightseeing highlights

See the ancient temples of Pashupati, Boudhanath, Durbar Square and the monkey temple, experience a cycle rickshaw ride through the bustling lanes of Kathmandu, try a Nepali cooking class and get to eat what you cook, learn the language with our introductory Nepali class, visit the incredible Royal cities of Patan and Bhaktapur, explore the maze of shops around the infamous tourist district of Thamel and get away from the city to the green and climb in the countryside outside the valley. (trips may vary depending on which programme you choose)

A fun organised programme of activities at cost price. We will not make any profit on your trip. The staff and volunteers will organise your trip and provide you support for free before and during your stay. Once you are accepted onto our programme, you will be asked to submit a £100/ £150 non-refundable deposit to secure your placement. The deposit is required to make any upfront payments needed in order to organise your trip, such as accommodation and a climbing guide. The remainder of your programme fee and donation is only due upon arrival in Kathmandu. Once you have paid your deposit we will also send you out a handy information sheet helping you to get organised before you leave.

So, what does WTMY get out of the deal?
Picnic with the young people

In return, you will commit to doing fundraising for us before you go to raise a minimum donation per person in order to help us set up our project in Kathmandu. We have set the bar really low for you, but we think it’s very possible to raise much more!

We will also get your practical help with setting up various aspects of our project when you are in Kathmandu. We hope that this is a fun and fair exchange.

But... how will I fundraise for WTMY?
